i watched a guy i love get married
so i guess now that’s 1 down
1 guy out of my life forever
now i’m home in east edge indiana
but it won’t be home for long
i'll write this song & finish packing
& by this time tomorrow
i'll be living in chicago
new year, new lives, new guys
we said when we left college
& maybe for my friends it will be
but the problem w/ that for me
is even though new york got married
last october i met this guy
who was everything i imagined i wanted
we rode a rollercoaster to a fast hard crash
i still don’t know what happened
i should probably want him out of my life
he’s done nothing but confuse me
but he moved to chicago a month ago
& by this time next month
i hope i will have seen him
new year, new lives, new guys
we said when we left college
& maybe for my friends it will be
but the problem w/ that for me
is even though new york got married
8 years ago i met this guy
who's been in my head every day since
he was the boy next door then my roommate
my best friend w/ benefits, my nemesis
through the mess of crazy feelings i'm thrilled
we’ll still be living together in chicago
he breaks my heart & makes my day
& by this time 5 years from now
part of me hopes we’re married
new year, new lives, new guys
we said when we left college
& maybe for my friends it will be
& the more i think about it
it's not such a problem for me
